About

I am an EMDR certified art therapist and have practiced psychotherapy for over 15 years with a focus on supporting my clients in healing their trauma. I apply various theoretical approaches to my work with clients, including art therapy, attachment theory, ego state theory, mindfulness practices, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). A practitioner of EMDR since 2010, I have found this approach to be especially powerful in the healing process experienced by the individuals I work with. EMDR is a therapeutic approach that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. It's used to help people recover from PTSD, anxiety, depression, panic disorders, addictions, and other conditions. One of the key strengths of EMDR is that it's a client-centered approach. As each client works to find their own rhythm in sessions, I provide a safe, supportive environment that is guided by a deep understanding of the client's emotional needs and a respect for each person's inner wisdom and ability to heal. While focusing on the unique qualities and experiences of each client, I guide them in the process of learning how to trust themself and their ability to identify and heal their wounds, so that they can achieve a greater sense of well-being, safety, confidence, and healthier relationships. I am passionate about sharing the benefits of EMDR with clients, colleagues, and friends. Many clients have described their experience as “magical”, referring to the quick and effective changes they notice while in treatment. At risk of being “preachy,” my wish is that this treatment was available to every single person in need of recovering from the traumas that have made lasting, salient impressions on the most personal facets of their lives. I offer art therapy to those seeking to tap into the healing benefits of art making. It's used to foster self-esteem, promote self-reflection and awareness, faciltate insight, enhance social skills, reduce and resolve conflicts and distess, and improve cognitive and sensorimotor functions. I have completed both my M.A. in Marital & Family Therapy with Specialized Traininig in Art Therapy, and B.A. with a Major in Psychology and Minor in Studio Arts from Loyola Marymount University.
